Sustainability
The CEE region is lagging behind in implementing sustainability concepts. Ukrainian business often wrongly perceives this topic as a philanthropy, or as a part of PR strategy, while successful companies globally and in the CEE region integrate sustainable development and corporate social responsibility in business models. In its activities on sustainable development LvBS pays attention to the following three areas: LvBS has initiated the establishment of the Working Group on Sustainable Development of the International Association CEEMAN (with the participation of the representatives of business schools of Hungary, Slovenia, Russia, Poland and Ukraine) organized in the years 2010-2011 the survey "Developing the Global Leaders of Tomorrow in Central and Eastern Europe". This research project coordinated by Lviv Business School of the Ukrainian Catholic University (LvBS) was carried out in cooperation with and following the methodology of Ashridge Business School, Great Britain. The results of the research were published both in Ukrainian and English with the support of Metinvest Company. The results of this year's survey contains practical tools for responsible leaders (practices and training case studies) and the results of the conference "Developing Responsible Leadership in CEE countries" which took place on December 2-3, 2010 in Lviv Business School.

Brief review of survey results: There have been pointed out three clusters of skills and expertise necessary for the leaders of tomorrow: • understanding and ability to react to the changes in the external environment (context); • availability of skills for survival and prosperity in the conditions of uncertainty and misunderstandings (complexity); • ability to understand the players in a wider political space, get involved and build efficient relations with new types of external partners (connectedness).
As the result of crisis of 2008, we can see the growing importance for the business of Central and Eastern Europe of the skills of using risk management tools and scenario building and horizon scanning tools.
There is a significant gap between understanding the importance of these knowledge and skills and the degree of their development efficiency in companies, business schools and professional bodies.Companies do not believe in our education and so do not expect new talents from it. Companies rely on their own resources, they do not wait for any assistance from aside and develop the knowledge and skills they need. By developing own training programs, which is more beneficial for them in the short term. Brief note about the Working Group on Sustainable Development of the International Association CEEMAN
The aim of the group is to provide a platform for structured dialogue and exchange of experiences on best educational and institutional practices in corporate social responsibility and sustainable development, the accumulation of intellectual capital on this issue and elaboration of new strategic partnerships.
