LvBS Key Executive MBA students shared their experience about the tour and China:
Olena Larina:
LvBS management developed the most efficient programme of the tour of MBA participants to China. It allowed to combine the events that required intensive concentration and mental efforts, like meeting with Ukraine's Consular in Shanghai, studying at Hong Kong Business School, visits to investment, consulting and off-shore companies, logistics depot, etc., as well as the events that brought emotional and aesthetic satisfaction, like tours to gardens and Emperor's tomb, culture parks, wine tasting, the tallest skyscraper in Shanghai. My key impressions: - a genius internal and foreign policy of the state, which secures job opportunities for the greatest number of people, including attracting international investments and external loans - a unbound desire of Chinese youth to learn and get education, herewith a full support at the state level: scholarship, international student exchanges, grants, 3-star campuses, lecture halls, electronic libraries, football, basketball and ice grounds, tennis courts, fitness centres - a harmonious combination of traditions and cultures, as a heritage, with hi-end technologies - a tolerant co-existence of different cultures, religions and mentalities - hospitality of Chinese people - clean and well-maintained streets, public transport, and a high level of disciple. Thank you very much! Taras Tymo You want to hear about my impressions? Definitely a trip to China exceeded all my expectations. It is difficult to share this experience. The best solution is to see it by yourself. I was deeply impressed by a few things: - first of all, I have never seen such an advanced infrastructure, like railway system, motorways, bridges, and sky-scrapers in any other country before... despite of the fact, that I heard about all those things prior to the trip, however what I saw there couldn't but impress me by its scale and a very limited timing for construction works - at the same time, a myth about China as a country, that not only has a high pace of industrial development, but also vigorously exploits its natural resources while destroying the environment, falls apart. However, China does face challenges with nature protection, but the number of green areas in newly constructed districts is impressive; there are many large and beautiful parks, man-made pounds, and flower beds. Nevertheless, while advancing with their technologies and economics, Chinese take a great care of being harmonious with the nature and creating a ‘green' environment for a man. - Large numbers are another very distinctive feature: a half a milliard country, a twenty-five million City of Shanghai, a six million ‘provincial' town of Suchow, nine figure revenues of local companies, etc. - China is very heterogeneous and ambivalent, the same as our world is, and one quarter of its population is Chinese. One can see extreme poverty and glamorous luxury, some dirty carts in the streets next to high-status automobiles, most impressive signs of globalisation and futuristic architectural creations side by side with ancient traditions and historic monuments. This concoction makes China so interesting and unique. Viktor Piddubnyi I cannot say about the whole country, as I‘ve got just a tiny glimpse of it within a very short period of time, but I can share my impressions about Shanghai and Hong Kong. Impressions are just overwhelming, and I feel quite difficult to concentrate on one or two. - Construction works everywhere. Tower cranes and heavy-duty machinery everywhere. At a few meter distance from existing motorways new airways and express railways are under construction. By all means, the City is getting ready for Expo 2010. - I was impressed, that there were no signs of the Communist Party symbols at every step, and it was surprised to learn that in China other parties and organisations had a legal right to exist. - I cannot imagine my life in a city with a twenty million population, or when you are told that we are in a provincial town like Striy, and its population is about three million people. You begin to feel somehow uncomfortable. - A visit to Techno-Park in Suchow became one of the most unpleasant days during our tour. The city was established some fifteen years ago and was a joint project of Chinese and Singapore governments. Standing on the roof of the administrative building I was looking down at a megalopolis and felt a bitter jealousy and a deep shame for Ukraine. That all ended up with disputes on political topics. - Food is not that spicy there, as my colleagues have said, and very simple. Core dishes are rice and chicken. - Very positive impressions! If you have a chance to travel to China, do not hesitate, but just pack your luggage.
