During May 13-15, a group of business owners and managers studying in the UCU Lviv Business School’s Key Executive MBA Program had the opportunity to do their May module in Kyiv. New companies, lecturers, and challenges were waiting for the executives in the capital.
On the first day of the module, the group visited KMCORE, a high-tech group of companies, where they were welcomed by its President Bogdan Kupych, former President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Ukraine. The participants were exposed to the company’s databank featuring an amazing security system. Then Maksym Ageev, CEO of DENOVO, gave a master class on cloud technologies in business as well as contemplated global IT trends. In particular, he wondered whether Google would invent its own car. It was nice to find out that Ukrainian providers of such services rank equal with companies like Amazon and Microsoft.
In the evening the group was invited to the headquarters of Nova Poshta, the largest delivery company in Ukraine. Vyacheslav Klimov, the company’s founder and co-owner, shared his business success story. His advice was: set yourself a big ambitious goal and build your company’s strategy around it. In the end, KEMBA graduate Volodymyr Shved gave a tour of Nova Poshta’s largest depot and showed the well-established operational processes at work. We would like to congratulate Volodymyr on his professional growth – Volodymyr joined the LvBS KEMBA Program as Head of Nova Poshta’s Western Branch; now he is Director of Partnerships in Ukraine.
On Thursday and Friday, the KEMBA participants studied within the walls of Kyiv Mohyla Business School (kmbs), where they presented their own insights – tools for implementing organizational change – as part of the course “Business as a System” from Mykhaylo Vynnytsky, Head of PhD Programs at Kyiv-Mohyla Academy.
Also, the participants were offered a course on strategic thinking from Oleksandr Savruk, Dean of Kyiv Mohyla Business School. On an interdisciplinary level, the group reflected on paradigm and system changes as well as on customer and consumer segmentation.
The executives had an unforgettable meeting with Deputy Minister of Finance of Ukraine Oksana Markarova. It was a frank conversation about government funding, customs reform, and the State Fiscal Service that took place in the building of the Ministry of Finance.
The module culminated in a team-building course featuring sailboat racing. All the participants were split into two teams and learned to steer their yachts together trying to use wind power to the max. Despite the aristocratic nature of this sport, sailing in teams became a real challenge for the participants, but they successfully dealt with it.
