The Ukrainian Catholic University and the Team4UA Charitable Foundation have signed a five-year memorandum of understanding. The agreement between UCU and the foundation’s director, Jean-Christophe Boni, provides for joint educational initiatives, projects to rebuild Ukraine, support for veteran-owned businesses, and capacity-building for regional civil society organizations.

The agreement reflects the parties’ long-term commitment to combining academic expertise, technological innovation, and practical humanitarian experience to strengthen the resilience and recovery of Ukrainian society.
What are the main areas of cooperation outlined in the memorandum between UCU and Team4UA?
According to the signed Memorandum, the partnership covers a wide range of educational, research, and community initiatives. The main goal is to build a systematic bridge between theoretical knowledge and real-world experience in responding to the challenges of war.
The main areas of collaboration under the memorandum are:
- Educational process: hosting guest lectures, master classes, workshops, and open discussions featuring Team4UA experts.
- Integration of case studies: incorporating the foundation’s practical humanitarian and technological case studies into the curricula of the UCU Business School and other faculties.
- Student internships: Engaging the student community in solving real-world professional, social, and humanitarian challenges.
- Institutional transparency: Strict adherence to fundamental humanitarian principles; zero tolerance for corruption, fraud, and discrimination.

3 Practical Areas of Cooperation: What Was Agreed Upon at the Working Meeting?
During a working discussion on a detailed cooperation strategy, UCU leadership and the Team4UA team, led by Jean-Christophe Boni, identified three priority practical areas:
1. Reconstruction, Recovery, and Regional Policy
The parties will join forces to participate in international consortia and European Union grant programs (in particular, Horizon Europe and cohesion instruments). Their joint work will include researching the reconstruction needs of local communities, analyzing citizens’ perceptions of the recovery processes, and preparing analytical proposals for the Ministry of Community and Territorial Development.
2. Comprehensive Support for Veterans and Veteran-Owned Businesses
Launch of pilot and national programs for service members returning to civilian life. The collaboration includes three components:
- Training and mentoring support to establish and develop veteran-owned businesses.
- Social and psychological adaptation.
- A special focus on veterans in rural areas through collaboration with regional military administrations and veteran hubs.
3. Capacity Building for Frontline Organizations
Most local civil society organizations on the front lines are highly motivated but lack operational standards. UCU and Team4UA will develop specialized training and consulting modules on operational management, financial control, compliance with international requirements, and procurement procedures. This will enable local charities to scale up their budgets and attract direct funding from international donors.
“My task is to ensure the high-quality and timely delivery of aid to people. By working together with UCU scholars and experts, we can create international consortia, enhance the institutional capacity of Ukrainian civil society, and demonstrate the highest level of transparency to donors from the EU and the U.S.,” emphasized Jean-Christophe Boni.

The Academic Dimension: Research, Case Studies, and Consulting from UCU
University representatives proposed a three-tiered model for engaging the UCU ecosystem in collaboration with Team4UA:
- Educational Programs: Adapting existing degree and corporate programs to the needs of the humanitarian sector and veterans.
- Analytics and case studies: developing educational case studies based on Team4UA’s unique experience with AI, crisis logistics, and managing over 100 employees.
- Methodological support: utilizing UCU’s established methodologies for assessing community needs for reconstruction projects.
To ensure the swift implementation of these plans, both organizations have appointed official coordinators who have already begun drafting a roadmap for the first practical steps.
