During the annual meeting of UCU Rector Taras Dobko with the university community, UCU awarded named memorial scholarships in honor of fallen Heroes. Among them was the Oleh Vorobiov Memorial Scholarship, established in memory of Oleh Vorobiov, a participant in the MSc in Technology Management program at UCU Business School anda defender of Ukraine who lost his life fighting for our freedom.
This year, the scholarship was awarded to Yaryna Kushnir, a second-year student of the Social Work program at the Faculty of Health Sciences.
«Being a scholarship recipient in honor of a Hero is both a great responsibility and a profound honor,» Yaryna writes in her letter of gratitude. «It is not only about the opportunity to study at UCU, but also about the opportunity to study in an independent country that continues to fight for its freedom thanks to brave people like Oleh.»
Yaryna is actively involved in volunteering and civic engagement, participating in numerous initiatives. Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, she has supported people who lost their homes, orphaned children, military personnel, and their families.
The Oleh Vorobiov Memorial Scholarship Fund was established on the initiative of UCU Business School and Oleh’s wife, Olha Vorobiova. The fund operates as an endowment, with its annual returns providing scholarships for UCU undergraduate students.
This scholarship is more than financial support. It is a living tribute to a Hero who gave his life for freedom and, at the same time, a source of inspiration for future generations studying within the UCU community.
