How to effectively prepare for negotiations to avoid the most common mistakes? Lecture by Linda Netsch «Essential Skills for Entrepreneurs: What They Teach About Negotiation at Harvard Law School». Let’s share the details!

On April 20, the UCU Business School hosted a charity lecture «Essential Skills for Entrepreneurs: What They Teach About Negotiation at Harvard Law School». The guest speaker was Linda Netsch, founder of Align Consulting and a Lecturer on Law at Harvard Law School.

She has worked extensively with entrepreneurs in Silicon Valley as an advisor with startup incubator Plug and Play Tech Center and as an angel investor with early-stage investment firm Golden Seeds.

During the event, Linda shared with the audience how to effectively communicate their ideas, negotiate with confidence, and build strong business relationships and spoke about the basic skills a person should have to conduct successful negotiations.

Lecture «Essential Skills for Entrepreneurs: What They Teach About Negotiation at Harvard Law School» is a charity event. Together we managed to raise over UAH 75,000 for the Oleg Vorobyov Scholarship Fund. We sincerely thank everyone who contributed to this great cause.

This Saturday, a breakfast with Linda Netsch took place on the topic: The Power of Negotiation: Strategies for Successful Business Deals in Ukraine and Beyond.

“As someone who frequently participates in various negotiations, I found it interesting to ask questions and discuss with Linda. For me, there are still many mysterious things about how people build negotiation strategies, how often people make themselves worse off during negotiations instead of making a win-win situation, and how we can get involved at an institutional level to help more people expand their horizons and negotiate better,” – Andrii Kostiuk, Managing Partner of KPLT.

“It is important to involve such experts for a larger audience, including Ukrainian businesses, who should also understand that this is one of the tools they should master. For me, as a professional, it was very important to listen to: where we should move on, what tools we should possess. “I think negotiations are one of the key skills demanded both in work and in life. At this meeting, I managed to confirm my knowledge, what I understood and heard somewhere. I understood that building relationships takes time, understanding between the two sides negotiating and building relationships between them,” – Mykola Kakhnych, owner of the “Yabko”.

“In our time, having the correct position in negotiations is often the key to moving forward. And now, when many processes in society are broken and will be rebuilt from scratch, it is very important to start them on the right foundation and common values, which can only be achieved through negotiations. That’s why this meeting is important, especially for students who will be building a new European country. It was very interesting to hear different approaches to negotiations, to learn how to establish different perspectives and methods for smoothing out conflicting moments,” – Taras Yeleyko, PhD, Director of Investment Office.

“Kormotech was entering the American market and it was important for me to hear about the main steps and stages in preparing for negotiations, because, in my opinion, we made a number of mistakes. Linda confirmed that answering the question of what you want is not the only requirement, but you also need to understand what the other side wants before going to negotiations.
