The UCU Business School has joined the large-scale international project Global Survey of Business Ethics (GSBE) 2022–2024, which unites more than 100 experts worldwide in partnership with the University of Notre Dame (USA). The project aims to explore how business ethics is evolving across societies and what practices can support sustainable development.

Ukrainian Report in Copenhagen

In July, Yaryna Boichuk, CEO of the UCU Business School, together with Georges Enderle, Professor Emeritus of International Business Ethics at the University of Notre Dame’s Mendoza College of Business and visiting professor at UCU, presented the Ukrainian GSBE report in Copenhagen. They also took part in panel discussions on “Business Ethics in Europe: What Can We Learn from Each Other?” at two major conferences:

“It was important for us to demonstrate that, despite the war, Ukrainian business and academia are developing unique practices and actively contributing to the global discourse. This once again proves that Ukraine is an integral part of the global academic and business community,” emphasized Yaryna Boichuk.

Artificial Intelligence and the European Context

A separate focus was on presenting results generated through AI analysis of reports from 14 European countries. This approach allowed researchers to compare real-world discussions with algorithmic insights and to highlight differences in perceptions of business ethics. These findings will be published in an academic journal and presented at the 2026 World Congress of Business Ethics in Cameroon.

Ukrainian Experience in Times of War

In addition, Roksolana Voronovska, lecturer at the UCU Business School and head of the Lifelong Learning School of the Ukrainian Catholic University, participated in the panel “Strategy, Business, and Entrepreneurship in Conflict and Post-Conflict Countries.” Together with Krzysztof Oblój, Distinguished Professor of Strategic Management and International Business at Kozminski University and the University of Warsaw, she presented a study titled: “How Business Pivots During a War: Lessons from Ukrainian Companies’ Responses to Crisis.”

Her contribution provided an important counterpoint at a time when controversial statements about the war in Ukraine surfaced during the conference:

*“Sometimes you hesitate to accept an invitation to such conferences—they take a lot of time and are expensive. But this time, when the very first speaker claimed that the war between Ukraine and Russia could have been stopped long ago if weapons supplies had ceased, that the war benefits everyone, and that Ukraine is plagued by money laundering (based on what she allegedly heard from refugees in Los Angeles), I immediately realized why I needed to be here. I thought, if I weren’t sitting in that room, people would just listen to these ‘different perspectives’ and move on. I am grateful to colleagues who supported me. One professor from the UK later wrote: ‘You dealt with a dreadful situation with grace and strength, but it should never have happened.’

Why It Matters

The presence of Ukrainian researchers and educators at global conferences not only ensures that Ukraine’s voice is heard but also strengthens trust and builds partnerships that open new opportunities for future collaboration.
