The experience of Ukrainian leadership in wartime is officially becoming part of global business education. As part of a new strategic partnership between Ivey Publishing (Canada) and the Ukrainian Catholic University, a case study dedicated to the resilience of Ukrainian business has been published on an international platform.

The case study, entitled “A Bombed Gas Station in Korotych, Kharkiv Region: The Spirit of Ukrainians Exemplified,” was prepared by Ivey Business School Professor Gerard Seitz. The Spirit of Ukrainians Exemplified,” was prepared by Ivey Business School professor Gerard Seitz and Sofia Opatska, Founding Dean of UCU Business School and Vice-Rector for Strategic Development at Ukrainian Catholic University.

What is this case about?

The material is based on the real story of the OKKO gas station in the village of Korotych, Kharkiv Region, which was destroyed by a Russian air strike on November 7, 2025. Despite significant damage, the station resumed operations in just two days.

This case became a unique example for the global academic community of:

– adaptive leadership in conditions of complete uncertainty;

– resilience as a business operating system;

– the transformation of ordinary commercial facilities into “points of invulnerability.”

Thanks to the partnership between UCU and Ivey, this case study is now available to over 2 million visitors to the Ivey Publishing platform from 168 countries worldwide. Now, leading business schools and corporate universities around the world will study the Ukrainian experience as a standard for crisis management.
