Volodymyr Melnyk holds a PhD in Marketing and Consumer Behavior from Wageningen University (The Netherlands), CentER’s Research Masters in Marketing from Tilburg University (The Netherlands) and MSc in Economics from CORIPE Piemonte (Turin, Italy).
He is a co-chair of Mediterranean Association of Consumer Research and a member of European Marketing Academy (EU), Association of Consumer Research (USA), Society for Consumer Psychology (USA) and Institute for the Development of Enterprises and Markets (Spain).
His main research interests lie in the area of consumer decision making, communication strategies, and adoption of innovative products, social influence and peer pressure. His research focuses on understanding the role of social influence in consumer decision making and involves variety of methods, including, experimental research and meta-analysis.
In 2008 he received the Best Paper Award from European Marketing Academy for his meta-analysis paper. In 2022 his paper on the influence of social norms on consumer decision making was announced as “The top 10 marketing insights of 2021” by Journal of Marketing. He has presented his research at leading international conferences and universities across the world.
Volodymyr has multiple publications in prestigious peer-reviewed journals, including Journal of Marketing, Marketing Letters, Psychology & Marketing, Journal of Psychology and Advances in Consumer Research.
He has been invited for research stays at top schools around the globe, including Oxford University (UK), Hamburg University (Germany), The University of New South Wales (Australia), Massey University (New Zealand).
He is a reviewer for top international academic journals, such as, Journal of Consumer Behaviour, International Journal of Research in Marketing, European Management Journal, Social Psychological and Personality Science.
Volodymyr has also worked on several externally-funded multidisciplinary projects commissioned by European Union, Dutch and Spanish governments and has been an invited expert in the annual L`Oreal Brandstorm competition.
