Leadership Through Real Decisions: How MHP Trains Executives at UCU Business School

MHP and the UCU Business School are continuing MHP’s corporate training program for agribusiness executives under the “Leadership and Decision-Making” program. The practical case study format allows leaders to develop managerial thinking and improve team effectiveness by addressing real-world business challenges. The training was led by Andriy Rozhdestvenskyy, Executive Director of the UCU Leadership Center and a faculty member at the UCU Business School.

The program’s primary goal was to improve the effectiveness of processes and teams by fostering a culture of safety and developing a growth mindset among leaders. A particular focus was placed on developing managerial thinking through the systematic use of case studies, discussions, and the analysis of managerial decisions.

In June 2026, participants worked on case studies to explore the connections among leadership, organizational culture, feedback, and talent development. By working with case studies from Harvard Business School, Ivey Business School, and the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University, participants had the opportunity not only to analyze management situations but also to test their own management assumptions: which decisions are effective, how culture influences people’s behavior, how a leader handles critical feedback, and how to create conditions for team development.

The training for the team was initiated by Serhiy Dobrogorskyi, MHP’s Deputy CEO for Agribusiness. He himself had previously worked with the case study method while studying at Harvard and saw how analyzing real-world business situations helps develop managerial thinking.

The program was structured according to the principles of the “Harvard Case Method”: participants review the case study and theoretical materials in advance, and during the session, they engage in in-depth discussion, analyze alternatives, and seek managerial solutions. A key requirement was to align the theory as closely as possible with MHP’s business context: how the approach works in real business, how it can be applied within the company, and what it means for day-to-day management practices.

In September 2026, the training continued with case studies on crisis leadership, data analysis, stakeholder engagement, and change management.

An important part of the program was the Success Review format—an assessment of the training’s impact through the practical application of knowledge and skills on the job. Some time after the training, participants are expected to reflect on their own experiences and present their results: which approaches they applied, what worked and what didn’t, what results they achieved, and what has changed since the training.

For MHP, this training is not just a series of educational sessions, but a practical tool for leadership development. The Case Study Method creates a space where executives can directly compare management concepts with their own business challenges, discuss them, explore alternatives, and apply the best approaches to their daily work.
