UCU Business School attended the 20th annual conference organized by the Baltic Management Development Association in Lithuania. The main topic of the event: From Digitization to Value Creation and Sustainability. Implications for Business and Education. In total, BMDA has 70 members from 27 countries; LvBS joined the association in 2013.
As the organizers of the conference note, the last few years will be turning points in modern history. The global pandemic and the return of war in Europe have not only led to a reassessment of the values of society, business and other areas, but also brought a lot of uncertainty and fear. Accordingly, most business representatives, academic leaders and politicians agree that fundamental changes in the socio-economic sphere are inevitable today. That is why representatives of business, academia and society have been invited to discuss the current challenges and opportunities.
As Khrystyna Dolna, operational director of LvBS, emphasizes, international cooperation is not only about institutional agreements and support, it is primarily about building trust and relations between people in different countries. “We realize that they see all the news about Ukraine only from the mass media; that is why it is very important now for our foreign partners to get information first-hand, to find out what we are really like. And these ‘human relations’ enable them not only to keep their positions firmly in matters of war, but also to turn to us when certain doubts or questions of choice arise.”
“The BMDA conference is like a bridge between the academic and business worlds, creating an environment for the growth of both sectors. Every year, the conference shares relevant, constantly responding insights, new practices, and new partnerships. This year, the conference program will discuss the lessons we have learned in the context of the pandemic and war, the new reality, the geopolitical background, and the challenges and opportunities arising from it,” says Edita Gimžauskienė, the President of BMDA and the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management at KTU.
According to Khrystyna Dolna, in addition to the conference itself, it was possible to get to know the School of Economics and Business KTU (Kaunas University of Technology), present the Business School of UCU and talk about the projects we are working on. It was very interesting for the group of researchers who are actively working on the issue of digitization to hear and see how the Diya and eZdorovya applications are working during the war.
“This visit was another step in establishing cooperation between institutions. We signed a cooperation agreement between the universities; also, we worked out a list of joint activities at the faculty level, together with the team of the KTU School of Economics and Business,” said Khrystyna.
