This year, changes and updates to the program portfolio have become an important component of the preparation for the UCU Business School’s admissions campaign. Taking into account the current challenges of our time, business and education trends, the School’s team has developed the design of a new program aimed at strengthening the educational focus on the organizational development of companies based on sustainability, human-centeredness, and ethical management.
UCU Business School presents a new master’s level program, MSc in Managing Impact-Driven Organizations – that Make an Impact. This program is designed for individuals who aspire to systematically manage businesses, ensuring their sustainable development in the long term while considering their positive impact on society and the environment.
Admissions for the new program are already open, and classes will begin this autumn.
As noted by Natalia Oboznenko, the Academic Director of the UCU Business School, the portfolio of programs at the UCU Business School is designed in such a way that, starting from the Key Executive MBA program and ending with the youngest master’s program in Marketing Management, we tailor education for a wide range of managers with different professional experiences and from different sectors of the economy.
The Technology Management program is created for future leaders of technological transformations who currently hold positions as top managers or owners of both IT companies and non-technological companies with IT directions. The Innovation and Entrepreneurship program targets young and creative owners/directors of small businesses with 3-7 years of market experience, who are personally involved in managing all processes and actively seek competitive advantages for their product or service through innovation implementation.
The MBA program now primarily focuses on owners of mature businesses who have been operating in the market for 10 years or more. For them, delegation of authority from the owner to the CEO, the establishment of supervisory boards, consolidation of different businesses under the parent company, market expansion, scaling, company sales, and mergers are important aspects.
And an important, unmet request to the UCU Business School was a request for a program for C-level executives of companies. That is why the concept of the new Managing Impact-Driven Companies program reflects, on the one hand, a values-driven and responsible approach to building the external business ecosystem, which was also demonstrated by Metropolitan Andrey Sheptytsky 100 years ago, and whose experience we consider a valuable example of self-reliance and economic success. On the other hand, the program incorporates the latest trends and tools in organizational development and human resource management.
These two components (content directions of education) are intended, in our opinion, to provide future CEOs with a comprehensive toolkit for managing a successful business.
The Master’s program MSc in Managing Impact-Driven Organizations is a completely new product both for the UCU Business School and for the overall business education market in Ukraine. This education is designed for:
Middle and senior-level managers who have or aspire to have influence and decision-making authority at the strategic level in companies of various sectors.
Owners of small and medium-sized businesses who seek to systematize management and build a sustainable system.
The program will also be valuable for leaders who aim to professionally manage organizations based on values such as human-centricity, social responsibility, business ethics, and managerial integrity. They should be capable of exerting a positive and sustainable impact on society and the environment, both locally and globally.
The director of the new program is Iryna Tymoshchenko-Petrova, an expert in strategic planning and organizational development with 18 years of managerial experience. She specializes in human resource management and the development of managerial competencies, and she is also a lecturer at the UCU Business School. Irina shared with us the value of the new Managing Impact-Driven Organizations program and its relevance to businesses.
Managing Impact-Driven Organizations is an urgent program for Ukraine and the world. It focuses on how to build businesses that integrate into large-scale societal systems. It’s not just about businesses considering global trends that undoubtedly impact their operations; it’s about creating a resilient internal system. The program explores how to construct such a resilient organization capable of exerting a positive influence and creating meaningful social, economic, and political change for the better.
Currently, managers in Ukraine require knowledge and competencies on how to create a resilient, yet flexible and effective organizational design. They need to understand how to ensure the development of the company and overcome fatigue from constant changes while considering organizational behavior. They also need to provide effective human resource management in the context of an increasingly competitive talent landscape. Integrating ideas of human-centricity, responsibility, and ethics into the entire organizational system is essential.
By building a transparent, resilient, and influential organization, we can discuss the creation of an environment (both internally and externally) where people can drive meaningful social changes.
The academic leader of the new program, Natalia Lagotska, shared details about the program’s content.
The program covers a wide variety of topics, from fundamental ones for managerial decision-making, such as managerial economics and business analytics, to more specialized areas of company activities and management: strategic planning, financial management and efficiency, knowledge and innovation management, and more. With the aim of developing participants’ understanding of the organization as a holistic system, important program topics include systems thinking and organizational architecture, change management, and organizational resilience. Recognizing the significant role of individuals and human relationships in organizational development and change implementation, the program also focuses on leadership and team management, organizational behavior, and culture. Throughout the program, participants will analyze business cases from various industries and sectors, which will allow them to grasp universal management principles and understand the multitude of factors to consider when building an organizational system.
