“War – Complexity – Business – Education – Chance” – a business case under this name is the leitmotif not only of the first module, but also of the entire study over the next two years for participants of the Key Executive MBA, MSc in Technology Management, MA in Human Resources and Organization Development programs of the UCU Business School.

The developer of this live case is Valeriia Kozlova, a strategic partner of LvBS and director of the Key Executive MBA program. Valeria is convinced that, on the one hand, war is a difficult time, on the other hand, it is our chance to change, to change our businesses, to see new opportunities for transformation.

The basis of the case is an incredible partnership and interaction between business and the public which was accumulated in the CF Volunteering and Protection Center. This charitable organization works according to the humanitarian principles of the UN and provides assistance only to medical institutions and the civilian population. The participants of the UCU Business School had a unique opportunity to see how one of the largest humanitarian centers in the west of Ukraine works, to learn how its work is organized from Marianna Bilyk, the head of the medical department and a participant of the Key Executive MBA program, and Andriy Nemyrovsky, co-founder and head of the Center .

As Valeriia Kozlova explained, this case was about the change and complexity of thinking made by the owners and their teams, so they managed to essentially create a new socially successful fund that operated according to the laws of business in the first days of the war. The Center for Volunteering and Protection has a modern and fully transparent corporate governance structure, which includes an independent supervisory board and a professional audit commission, where decisions are made collegially by majority vote. “While working on the case, we immersed ourselves in the state of war and made it a part of our lives, because our job is to create maximum opportunities not only for the survival of our businesses, but also for development,”- Valeriia explains.

The purpose of the case “War – Complexity – Business – Education – Chance” was to show that you can react to war either by refusing to understand the situation and pretending that there is no war, or you can “let” it into your business and make it part of your life, and thus wage your own battle with the enemy.

At the end of the training day, the participants of the Key Executive MBA, MSc in Technology Management, MA in Human Resources and Organization Development programs developed and presented their business solutions and ideas for improving the work of the center itself, as well as the co-founding company, or offered a partnership to each other. The results of the work were interesting solutions that were highly appreciated by the owners, and already in the audience, some participants were offered a partnership with the founders of the fund. In general, an atmosphere was created in which, we are sure, the influence of volunteering, as well as businesses with a social direction, will expand.

Graduates of the UCU Business School were also invited to work on the case, in particular, the program “Effective mentoring through the prism of EQ boost”, the author’s program of Valeria Kozlova, an expert in effective thinking and the author of the EQ-Boost discipline, and Yaryna Boychuk, CEO of LvBS.

“Why graduate mentors? Because their interaction with groups is extremely valuable in the process of acquaintance, the importance of which cannot be overestimated in the first module. Participants of the Key Executive MBA, MSc in Technology Management, MA in Human Resources and Organization Development programs will study together for two years, possibly become partners in new businesses, so it was important for us to create an opportunity for a deep acquaintance, where there is no competition, but cooperation, where there is no fear for co-creation, where there is a spirit of lofty dreams, which is inspired by our struggle!…” – explained Valeriia Kozlova.

Among the graduates invited to work on the case: Diachyshyn Olesya – COO, HR director of Thundermark Games Inc., Andriy Bandrivskyi and Oksana Donets – co-owners, co-founders of Gorgany; Oksana Hudzovata – professor of the Department of Management and Organizational Development, co-owner of TM “Just Good Bread”; Kostiantyn Shumsky – founder of Gallery ICONART; Father Rostyslav Pendiuk – head of the Patriarchal Commission for Youth Affairs of the UGCC, Andriy Sabanskyi – TacticMedAid, Ihor Kushnir – co-owner of Sviy Market, Iryna Fishchuk – Muliarov family restaurant, Halyna Savych – UP Family Medical Center, Volodymyr Metkyi – the owner of Tradex Agri agribusiness.
